Knights and Titans

After two and a half weeks, we are definitely getting into the back-to-school groove. School is going great for both kids. Three perfect 100's on Kinsey's spelling tests and a great note home from Max's teachers on his third day of school. The after school activities are keeping us busy now that AWANA has started up. We've been feeling a hint of fall and enjoying a great start to the high school football season. And last night, we had a fun night out in Atlanta at the Georgia Poultry Federation's Night of Knights with Travis Tritt. Good weekend! Looking forward to next weekend's trip to the beach--5 days and counting!

2010 Titan Twilight

After the festival, we hit the ground running for the annual Titan Twilight 5K and fun runs. We have been participating in this event ever since Kinsey could even run (see here and here) and this year, both kids did great again. Both placed 2nd (Max 100-yard dash and Kinsey 300-yard dash) in their age group/division (I did, too, ironically, in the 5K) but my proudest moment was having all four Patricks run the one-mile run after the kiddie races! Way to go kiddos!

Star Spirit Festival

This morning's dreary rain didn't put a damper on our plans. Mary's new school had their annual festival and luckily they were smart enough to have most of the activities in the classrooms and hallways. So we headed to BES for fun and games, but mostly to see a certain new counselor take her turn in the dunk tank!!!

Aunts and uncles and cousins, OH MY!

Nanny and Papadad were so generous to open up their house to chaos, er, the Townsend family, this weekend. Aunts and uncles, first and second cousins (I think there were 19 of us) came from NC and Georgia to Lake Keowee for some great food, fellowship and lake fun. We had so much fun playing on the beach, taking boat rides, tubing, skiing, eating and just visiting and we hated to see the weekend end. The little ones are so cute, just reaching the age where they are really interacting and getting to know one another. It is so precious to see these teeniest cousins growing up with the same bonds we grew up with so many years ago!

I have soo many pictures I love and hopefully lots more coming from others, I had the hardest time picking, but this is all my computer is cooperating with for now, so 'til next blog...

Day Planner

So, I guess it is time for me to get a Day Planner to keep up with my kids. I knew this day would come, but it seems like it has snuck up and taken us by storm. The first full week of school also brought along the first of the after-school activites. Kinsey had opted not to take musical theater this year (although she swears she is trying out for Annie next week) and instead asked to take up some regular horse lessons. Her words when asked why horseback over dance? "You can't RIDE dance, and you can't PET dance, and dance isn't cute and cuddly like a horse!" Clearly she put a lot of thought into this. Anyway, I said KINSEY decided against musical theater this year. That doesn't mean we are free from the stage. You got it--little Music Man Max will be starting his Broadway Babies class in a few weeks. We are very excited to see where this leads with our little showtunes guy. In addition, Kinsey pleaded to also take gymnastics once a week, so we are going to give that a try, too. Her first lesson went really well. So, here we go--let the carpool shuttle shuffle begin!

First day, First grade

GWL

Their awesome log cabin and bunk bed inside the room.

This week, while I started back to work for pre-planning, the kids went to NC with Nanny, Papadad and cousin Thomas to this cool, indoor waterpark and resort, The Great Wolf Lodge. From the pictures and the stories, it sounded like a WONDERFUL trip!
