HJ Fox Spring Classics II

What a fun weekend we all had in Conyers at Kinsey's first H.J. Fox series show of the season.  We decided to take the camper and stay all weekend and even though the weather did not cooperate ONE SINGLE BIT, Kinsey and Robyn did great!  With close to 20 riders in her classes, she placed several times--two 3rds, a fourth, two 5ths, a 6th, and a 7th and even a first place over fences on Sunday giving her Grand Champion in the Short Stirrup Equitation division.

We had a fun team gathering Saturday night at the camper and had burgers, dogs, and Max's strawberry cobbler!

We wish the weather would've been a bit better, but it was great nonetheless!

Newton County Saddle Club

Kinsey and Robyn had a great show together today, moving up to the 2' and 2'3" fences.  My proudest (and scariest) moment was when Robyn refused a jump, causing Kinsey to topple over her head and into the jump followed by Kinsey telling Mrs. Ellen "Let's do this thing" and hoping back up and finishing her course.  Despite the fall, the pair managed to take home a Champion and a Reserve Champion and several other ribbons as well.

Carolina Easter

We spent this Easter in Charleston with my side of the family, highlighted by a day at the kids' favorite fun spot, Blackbeard's Cove.  How can you beat pancakes, go karts, jump houses, video games and the Easter Bunny?!?

Easter morning, the cousins woke up to some fun Easter "baskets" and an egg hunt in the yard.

Kids say...

Morning car rides to school provide some of the funniest conversations sometimes.

One day last week, Kinsey was talking about what kind of things colleges look for in applications.  We discussed the importance of both grades and extracurricular activities.  She then went on to say "Mom, I hope you're not going to be disappointed, but I am NOT going to UGA."  I wasn't really worried about her picking a college in 5th grade, but Max was appalled.  He said "Kinsey, you DO know that UGA has a BUFFET, right?!?"  She was shocked and asked if that was true or if he was lying.  I grinned and told her that UGA did in fact have a buffet and that it was quite tasty, to which her reply was "Do any OTHER colleges have buffets mom?!?"

Another morning, Max was talking about the chicks that were hatching in his classroom  Here's how this went:

M:  Mom, do the eggs we eat come from chicken eggs?
Me:  Actually, yes, they are one and the same Max.
M:  Whoa!  You mean we eat BABY chickens when we eat eggs???
K:  NO MAX!  A boy chicken has to come sit on the egg to turn it into a baby!!!

(Guess a little talk is in order soon!)
