Run for the Roses!
I just got home from one of my favorite girl's weekend/running trips in Louisville, Kentucky. This weekend was the Kentucky Derby Festival which was a huge party to kick off this week's big racing event. Everything about the trip was great from dinner at Hard Rock, a night at the race track and a visit to the Louisville Slugger museum.
The race itself was amazing! Perfect weather, a best run for me (even though the last 6 hilly miles were brutal,) but the absolute BEST was running IN Churchill Downs and looking to my right and seeing the horses practicing on the track RIGHT NEXT TO US--TOTAL SUPRISE!
I had such a wonderful time with my two sweet friends and hope to continue the tradition again someday (not too soon!) ;)
Horse News
Another good week for lil' equestrian! Taught herself how to jump BAREBACK and Championed the TRM for the second show in a row!

GSSR 2012
It was a fun and busy weekend at the Patrick household. Kinsey had two sleepover guests, Max had a ball game, but probably the most fun was a cookout and a trip to this year's UGA Great Southland Stampede Rodeo. Four crazy cowpokes had a great evening horsing and clowing around.

Game Ball
Kinsey had her best game yet tonight, earning her the honor of "game ball." It was the Pink socks first win of the season and our ball girl had a big hit in the bottom of the last inning and ran the winning run in as well.

Champ x 2
What a big day for Kinsey and her four-legged pal Joe. We traveled about 45 minutes to Winterville for the second show of the season. She moved up again one higher division to try it out this morning. In the TRM division, the dynamic duo swept the blues and came away with the Grand Champion ribbon and in the Crossrail Hunter (a new one for her where she had to memorize two different jumping patterns,) she won a first, second and a fourth, which she was a little disappointed in until she heard her name called out as the Grand Champ in that division as well. Joe was steady as can be and the two had such a fun time together. Loving the beautiful day!
Cousins in Carolina
We had a great mini-vacay in Charleston this week with the Lamb and Sherrill cousin clan. The five kiddos had a marvelous time playing at the beach and at the Children's Museum, but mostly just hanging out.
Such precious time that I get to spend with my cousins and having out kids growing up together as well. Love you guys!!!

Happy Easter
It was a wonderful Easter this year, with lots of traditions old and new. We woke up to a beautiful morning and special Easter Bunny treats followed by the first egg hunt of the day. A wonderful breakfast at church, Sunday School, and Easter Service added to the beautiful morning.
For lunch, we added something new at the Georgia Club with the EB himself along with a few fave friends.
After lunch, we headed over to Nan and Granddaddy's house for egg hunt #2. We had the special treat of visiting with Aunt Wilma and Cousin Cindy who were visiting from Tennessee. The second hunt of the day was full of suprises, candy and cash to be exact, and brought lots of joy to the kids (and grown ups!)
Back with the Griners we hit the pool for the warm evening. Cold, but bearable, the water provided entertainment until the kids were ready for egg hunt #3. This one, we dubbed "White Trash Egg Hunt" since the kids were donned in nothing more than t-shirts and used grocery bags as baskets. Lots of laughs were had and of course more memories made.
Off to Charleston for some great cousin fun in the AM...

Spring Break=Brrrrr!
So, day one of Spring Break 2012 brought less-than-pleasant weather considering what we've had for the past few weeks. It was barely 50 degress, windy and overcast today. It didn't stop us for a trip to the barn for Kinsey to grab a bareback ride on Joe.
On the way home, we stopped by the strawberry patch to pick our first gallon of strawberries.
