In today's busy world, this blog has become a way to share our lives with friends and family as well as personally journal thoughts and ideas of our day-to-day adventures.

Opening Day
Saturday was the opening day of the Little League Season. They had a big celebration with Hairy Dawg throwing the first pitch and pictures of all the teams as well. Jack and the kids had a full day of baseball while I was out running over that big SC bridge.

Another fun gals weekend in Charleston at the annual Cooper River Bridge Run, a beautiful 10K over the breathtaking Ravenel Bridge. This year will be remembered for the record hot weather (=lovely day by the pool), the delicious seafood at the Wreck, and the fact that we ran BACK OVER the bridge after the race for our 13-mile training run. Oh, the crazy looks we got!!!

Sunny Sunday
After resting up from the Pirate Party, Sunday we decided to soak up some sun and head out to the barn with a picnic lunch. The barn was totally quiet, so after our chicken finger buffet, we pulled out Max's new pitching machine and hit some balls while the kids took turns riding sweet Joe around. Thomas and Max did particularly well assuming the role of cowboy today!

Walk the Plank, Scallywag!
Max's party today was PERFECT! We tried out a place that I'd heard of but never been to, called Canopy Studios. They teach trapeze arts there and I was hopeful that it might be just the right place for Max and his Pirate Pals to brush up on their sea-farer skills. The leaders of the party did great working with the theme and had all of the "crew" believing they were swinging and swaying in the deep blue seas. Of course, the centerpiece of the party was what promises to be one of my all-time favorite birthday cake creations, courtesy of Pirate Papadad and his matey Jack. Aye, it was a good one indeed. Yo ho ho!!!

The Mix
We had a big adventure this weekend as 9 middle school girls with their 2 college-aged couselors crashed our home and spent the weekend at our host house for The Mix. Several local churches got together for a weekend of praise and fellowship and different homes agreed to host the different age groups. We had a wonderful time with this incredibly sweet and polite group of girls and look forward to hopefully hosting again next year!
