Kinsey's Big Day
Tonight was Kinsey's big soccer debut--first game ever. She did a wonderful job and even scored a goal! Her quote: "Mommy, am I a star?"
After the game, we went to a Easter carnival and got to see the Big Bunny himself.
And of course, a shout out from the Big Cheese Head, Max!

I Can See Clearly Now the Rain is Gone
At least for the time being. And boy, has it ever rained! But we sure need it! What a long, wet week this was, but no doubt full of things to do and fun to be had. A couple of my conversations from this week: Kinsey telling me about the "wind peels" in her new garden touch-table at school (ya know, the rainbow spinny things on a stick?) and also her deciding she didn't want to play soccer anymore, that she had decided on a different sport--ping pong. This perplexed me for days--where she might've learned about ping pong and become so interested in the sport. Finally, when she brought it up again, she told me she wanted to play ping pong, "you know, like John Scott and Jacob play, Mommy." TRY TEE BALL!!! :) After a fun-filled week of working nights to help the Junior League get ready for its big Bargainza event this weekend, I was ready to relax come the weekend. Yeah right, like I actually thought RELAXATION would enter in the picture. We have had fun though. Friday night was a family date night with our favorite twins and their parents to Mexican dinner and a new dessert spot. Turns out the kids were not impressed with the Italian ice, but the adults liked the change, I think. The highlight of the night was the kids' raindance in the parking lot puddles. Too cute!
Saturday with nothing but torential downpour in the forecast, we invited Kinsey's bud Hannah out for a movie and sleepover. After the movie, we decided to take in a quick trip to the pool, too. We were thrilled that Max had not lost his, um, "passion" for the pool (in fact, he may be a little too enthusiatic since one time, he jumped in without anyone there to catch him.) Our biggest concern was that he would pitch a fit at having to wear earplugs now that he has tubes, but we were pleasantly suprised that he didn't care one bit. Bring on the summertime!!!
As the new week comes in, we're getting ready for Kinsey's first soccer game, an Egg-stra special birthday party, and mostly SPRING BREAK at Myrtle Beach. T minus 5...

Spring is in the Air!!!
Ah, finally, the first weekend of the spring has arrived and it came in style in Georgia! Cool mornings indeed (specifically 39 degrees Saturday as I coached Kinsey's whining Under 6 soccer team.) Putting that aside, we have enjoyed doing a little bit of nothing this weekend and it has felt nice. Jack and I enjoyed a dinner date on the patio of our favorite seafood joint, complete with some live southern rock and March Madness basketball. This morning, I did take a beautiful, 8-mile sunrise run down a loonngg country road with my running gals. Home in time for church, we were all excited when we got there as we were reminded of our church's annual Kite Day. Kinsey had a very successful time and Max enjoyed his Daddy running him around for a few laps, too. Going to catch some rays!!!

Luck O' the Irish
Happy St Patricks Day to all the little leprechauns out there! I tried to find something fun and interesting to do with the kids this afternoon in honor of this fun holiday. All I found was a Snake Celebration (in honor of the legend of St Patrick driving all the snakes of Ireland out to sea) at a local nature center/zoo. So, load up the car and give it a shot. Turns out the snake program was not too impressive (although we did see a few cool snakes at close range) and Max was ready to move on to bigger, better things! So this trio took a stroll through the zoo and bobcat- and bear-watched awhile, then headed for the playground. Since the sun hasn't been seen in days, everyone and their DOG was out today, so the most exciting part of the park for the kids was getting to meet all the pooches--shih tzus, boxers, labs and a teeny tiny 5 week old pup! Headed back home, we were still on the lookout for some Irish fun when we saw a band set up outside Chic-Fil-A. Good enough! So dinner at CFA, followed by close to an hour of peaceful playground time with just my two (that never happens) and a little jam session while enjoying our green lemonade and green ice cream. So the band??? None other that our old fav John Berry's two sons and friend. I fun little chat with John himself (Kinsey said "I like that old man") and more southern rock with two happy kids grooving to the beat made me feel like the luckiest mom on the planet!!!

Star Girl and Star Teachers
Can I just tell you how much I love Kinsey's school and especially her teachers. We have just been so blessed. I've said this before that with that many students in that small of a building, I would've never imagined her getting the kind of care and education that she is getting. I don't spend a minute of her school day worrying about her well-being. They treat her like she is the center of their world, too and she feels like the "Star Student" every week of the year. I love you guys!

Family Fun Night
Last night was Family Fun Night at Pump It Up sponsored by Kinsey's preschool. Kinsey has always been a huge fan of "jumpy thingys" and has been to many a birthday party here. Max, on the other hand had not had the opportunity before last night. What a fun idea with all of Kinsey's school friends and their siblings plus pizza and soft drinks as well. As usual, Kinsey had a ball and was able to bring her friend Hannah along, but it was Max who kept us on our toes. He immediately thought he was 5 and jumped on board with the big kids. I swear he went down the giant slide at least 20 times and every time he would take a flying leap off at the bottom. I have visions of broken bones dancing in my head! Yikes!

Birthday Boy!
Happy Birthday to my "Baby Max" as he turned 2 yesterday! He came into this world a big, nine-pound chunk of lovable sweetness, and although we butt heads most of the time, his sweet grin and pure innocence melt my heart every day. He is the most beautiful precious little boy! I can't believe two years has already gone by and that my little baby is growing into a little toddler(by "little", I mean 25 pounds and about a foot and half more!!!) What a guy!
A fun music & gymnastics party and pizza supper with family made for a great celebration.
The cousins had a ball playing in this beauiful sunny weather this morning as well.
